What can you do with a large quantity of local produce? Preserve it!

Learn ways to preserve fruits and vegetables by freezing or dehydrating them. Recipes can be adapted to use whatever you have available.

Preservation takes time, so the final product may not be ready during the same school day.

Have more fun with the foods you preserve!
Some lessons connect to recipes in other sections of the website. For example, dried fruit can be used in the Trail Mix recipe from the ‘Cook it’ section.

START HERE: Introduction to Knife Skills

Students will have fun learning knife skills, including safety and proper hand position. This lesson should be done with students who are new to using knives before doing a food preparation lesson.
